The pieces that I finished for the Grand Isle show may never be seen at that show. Because of my procrastination and the job that sucks all the life out of me I still don’t have the prints in my hands and the last day to deliver them to Grand Isle is Monday. I will see if they show up on Monday and call the people in Grand Isle to see if I can deliver them on Tuesday – provided the package shows up on Monday! If all else fails I will at least have them for the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival although I had hoped to put my energy into directing my art in a different way. This was going to be the last year I participated in the Grand Isle show and I didn’t put anything in the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival last year. None of the pieces I submitted made it into Venus Envy in BR which was also a major disappointment. Live after Five started again on the last Friday of March. I didn’t attend but Keith did. I hope to be ready to do the one at the end of April.

The professor never did get back to me about the models or students interested in life drawing and the life drawing group I found in New Orleans meets on Thursday making it impossible for me to get there. The pieces inspired by the trip to poverty point never materialized. Jonathan had two projects he wanted me to do but since I’m never at Kevin’s house it’s difficult to get them started let alone completed. To make matters worse my aging slow computer continues to bog me down and prevents me from completing any art or the projects he had talked to me about.

I continue to struggle to guide my life but repeatedly feel that I’m pushed and pulled in directions I don’t want to go by the currents. I just finished reading Angelology by Danielle Trussoni and was struck by one of the lines in the closing chapter:

“All that she had been, and all that she had thought she would become, had disappeared forever.”

2009 in review

This has been quite a year. My car was stolen in Jan on the day I was supposed to close on my house on 1/21. Keith and I went to the Pop Evil concert in Houma as planned that night in spite of the incident and the delay on the closing. I got the car back minus the radio/cd player Keith had bought me and I did end up closing on the house on 2/2. The a/c in the house gave out during the summer and my car broke down but I managed to get through it all. Keith had to drive me to work and I had to spend the night at his place a few times b/c of that. Work cut our pay but only for a few months. Mama turned 80 and we discovered Daddy has congestive heart failure when he started hallucinating. He seems better now but is going to finally retire and we’re all worried that he’ll go downhill when he stops working. I struggle to make ends meet and haven’t really produced any art. I need to finish the pieces for the Grand Isle show and have the inspiration to do some pieces based on the trip I took with Kevin to Poverty Point around Thanksgiving. I did do some face painting and had a couple of jobs through a temp agency selling tickets but that really barely helps. The website is still not complete and I still have no money to produce prints. I did ask a prof at Nichols about figure drawing and he is supposed to supply me with the names of some recent graduates interested in figure drawing and the names of some models. There are of course loose ends with both Kevin and Keith and I am hesitant to say that the strong candidates are the two young men who work off shore (Young men — one is young enough to be my son!) Great Goddess help me through 2010!

Sept 2008 – Three separate pieces devoted to alternatiave forms of energy – “Earth” “Wind” “Fire” were sent in and are supposed to be displayed in Sept at the below site. Their is a choice of English or Italian and the English site is not finished. The Italian version mixes Italian with English.

With this one you have to go over to your right – sort of middle of the page to read everyone’s horror story. Marc Bollinger, General Manager with Midphase, actually gives his email address there and asks anyone with problems to email him directly. I did that today – he responded w/in minuties! We’ll see what acutally happens.

I have been struggling since Oct 07 to get a website up to show my art. Who knew it would be this much trouble!!! I absolutely detest midphase. The designer there lacks any ability to communicate and it is impossible to get a response from either the designer or any of the management team. Apparently once they have your money you cease to be important. The site they designed is down right now and a friend is trying to help me get the site back up but he’s never dealt with a content management type site so until this is figured out or I find an affordable designer who knows how to give a client what they want this will have to do as a forum.

This piece is called Sophia. It was a self portrait I started when I was 39 and it was done by the time my 40th birthday rolled around. I didn’t like the original drawing which was a modified contour drawing but my husband said it looked like me at 70 or 80 years old so I finished it.
